2019 Ahimsa Yoga and Music Festival

The harmonium is one of the most recognizable musical sounds streaming from yoga studios and festivals across the world. While its sound is powerful and moving, and a perfect support for chanting and vocal accompaniment, it is a relatively easy instrument for anyone to play. In this hands-on group workshop, we will learn the basics of playing, how to use the instrument to accompany yourself while chanting “om”, and a simple chant we can work towards as a group. We will also learn an easy musical notation system that Seth has developed, a sample of which you can take home with you. This workshop is suitable for all levels.

*Please note that this workshop will be kept to a small group due to the availability of instruments, and therefore will fill quickly.

*If you don’t have your own harmonium, you can play a shared instrument provided by our vendor, Old Delhi Music, for a fee of $20. The fee is payable at the beginning of class and can be credited toward a new harmonium purchase during the festival.
*Note: Owning a harmonium is not required for this workshop. Anyone who does not bring their own harmonium can pay a $20 instrument fee for the use of shared instruments provided by Old Delhi Music. This fee is payable at the beginning of each class, and if you fall in love, the fee can be credited toward a new harmonium purchase during the festival. *
